Privacy Policy

Committed is a leaderboard for software teams: it turns GitHub activity into scores and streaks inside clubs, with a group chat for each club. Committed is published by JB Web Developer ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.

What we collect

Your account

• Email sign-up: your first and last name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash.
• Sign in with GitHub: your GitHub user ID, username, profile picture URL, name and email address (if your email is private, a GitHub no-reply address).
• Sign in with Apple: your Apple user ID, and the name and email address Apple shares (which may be a private relay address).
• An optional display name, and security settings such as two-factor authentication.

Your GitHub activity

When a club connects GitHub, GitHub sends us events from the repositories it covers: commits, merged pull requests, pull request reviews, closed issues, repositories being created, and stars. For each event we store its type, the repository name, when it happened, GitHub's ID for it, and the event details GitHub sends (which can include commit messages, pull request or issue titles, and the username of someone who starred a repository). We use this only to calculate scores and streaks. We never write to your repositories or post anything to GitHub.

Clubs and chat

• The clubs you create or join, your role in each, invite codes and scoring settings.
• The chat messages and reactions (cheer, nudge, taunt) you send.
• Reports you make about chat messages, and the people you block.

Your device and app use

• Push notifications: if you allow them, a push token for your device and its platform (iOS or Android).
• Security: sign-in sessions, with the IP address and browser or app details they came from, and a log of security-relevant actions on your account.
• Crash reports: if the app hits an error, the error message and technical details, the app version, your device model and operating system version. Crash reports don't include your messages or passwords.

We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. We don't use advertising, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

How we use it

• To run Committed: your account, clubs, leaderboards, scores, streaks, chat and notifications.
• To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse, including reviewing reported messages.
• To find and fix bugs and crashes.
• To answer you when you contact support.

Who can see it

• Members of your clubs see your name or display name, profile picture, GitHub username, role, scores, streaks, activity counts and chat messages in that club. People you haven't shared a club with can't see them.
• Service providers who process data for us to run the service: our server hosting provider; GitHub (sign-in and activity events); Apple (Sign in with Apple and notification delivery on iOS); Google (notification delivery on Android); Expo (sends push notifications, receiving your push token and the notification text); and our email provider (account and security emails).
• The law: we may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile details, GitHub link, club memberships, activity, scores, streaks, chat messages, reports, blocks, devices and sessions. The account record is emptied of personal details and closed, keeping only a random ID and a record that a deletion happened. Clubs you own pass to another member; a club with nobody else in it is deleted. Copies in our backups are removed as those backups are replaced. Crash reports and server logs are kept only as long as we need them to fix problems.

Your choices and rights

• Delete your account in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or at committed-api.gritframework.dev/delete-account.
• Access, correct or export your data: email us and we'll send you a copy or fix it. Your name and picture from GitHub update when you next sign in with GitHub.
• Notifications: turn them off at any time in your device settings.
• Block and report: block people and report messages in any club chat.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to object to or restrict processing, or to complain to your data protection authority. Email us to use any of them.

Children

Committed is for software developers and isn't directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age for digital consent where you live) to use it. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so we also offer two-factor authentication.

Changes

We'll update this page if this policy changes, and tell you in the app about significant changes.
